Kevlar was first discovered in 1965 and has been used in many applications from the 1970s onwards. The synthetic fibre is famously used in bulletproof vests due to its high tensile strength. Its resistance to wear is also why it is used to make car tyres, industrial cables, and sporting equipment.
NJM Group has developed the Kevlar Security System, using a similar net to stop ground-based vehicles in a Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) role.
